Film Viewing: The Last Ice – A Documentary on the Ice Age
Join us for a special screening of The Last Ice, a short documentary created by New Hampshire science teacher Greg Stott and Vermont filmmaker Nick Natale. Stott, who received the Christa McAuliffe Sabbatical Award in 2023, used this time to produce the film, which explores the impact of the last Ice Age on the Connecticut River Valley. Through the lens of modern science, the film investigates the clues left behind in our current landscape, revealing the ancient climate that shaped the region.
In addition to showcasing local landmarks from the Upper Valley to the Pioneer Valley, the film highlights the life of Edward Hitchcock, a geologist and theologian whom Lake Hitchcock is named after. With over 20 years of experience teaching Earth science, Stott hopes to inspire viewers to look at their environment with a deeper understanding of the natural history that surrounds them.
